Windows begin to look broken and/or boarded up. No big deal, right? But it only takes a few seconds to notice that the buildings behind him are changing subtly. That version would probably be the one most argued as ‘the original’. It starts out with a chilling, off-key banging on a piano, but Mickey is walking along the street and the surroundings are just buildings running by in a loop behind him.īut he looks a bit despondent and panicked and like he’s reaching for some unseen item. There is a third version that shows a similar scene, but the backgrounds are very basic and by the end, there’s nothing left to see, let alone the mouse dying. The reason they describe it as hell, is mostly because of the background and noise. So, the thing causing people to commit suicide is probably not true (although you just never know with Disney fans!), but if you can get through all nine minutes of it, Mickey commits suicide, apparently by injection (in the cleaned up version). ( Above: What is most considered the “original” Suicide Mouse film)

But then, maybe it’s faked all the way around just to create a new urban legend. That’s the more disturbing part of that video the maniacal transformation of Mickey’s face into a demented grin and rolled-back, empty zombie eyes toward the end and the aforementioned suicide of Mickey (the original either doesn’t have that ending or it was left out. I think the second one might have been someone trying to recreate the original with a weirder ending (as if it weren’t weird enough). I think the original is way disturbing, made more so because the quality of the film is quite bad. I’m going to include the “original” and then a cleaned up version. The biggest differences are the background images and the endings. All of the noises are the same on each one. The film is suppose to be from the 1930′s. It’s hard to know which is the true original, if any. I should point out that there are a couple of different versions. Allegedly, as part of the urban legend, this was recently ‘rediscovered’ after decades when all Disney films in the vault were being recorded on DVD’s.

Otherwise, this is one of the freakiest cartoons I’ve ever seen, no doubt. OK, depending on your tolerance for creepy, weird noises, wailing moans and screeching disembodied voices, you may very well want to consider suicide by the end. In it’s own version of “The Ring”, the cartoon shows Mickey in “hell” and is said to make anyone who watches it in it’s entirety to commit suicide. It’s called “Suicide Mouse” and stars none other than a fairly young Mickey Mouse. Hey, Disnerds! I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday! As I mentioned the other day on my “ Truth Behind the Disney Urban Legends” post, there is an old, really freaking weird video that I discovered while researching the legends.
